The borough of Anjou enjoys a strategic location as Highways 40 and 25 intersect here. This once rural municipality has given way to housing and industry. Apartment buildings and single-family homes stand beside a major industrial park. The borough boasts 1,142 companies, which have created over 28,685 jobs in manufacturing, retail and wholesale trade, transportation and warehousing, finance and insurance as well as professional, scientific and technical services. Galeries d’Anjou and Place Versailles are both major regional shopping centres.
Les Halles d’Anjou, a public covered market, provides fresh produce and specialty products. The farmer’s market, restaurants, and various stores are a magnet for crowds. Thanks to the involvement of many residents, Anjou has a dynamic community life. In addition, some 80 agencies work with seniors, as well as in such areas as sports, culture, community development and humanitarian assistance.
